[nsp] enabling port monitoring
Hi all,
I m having sniffer pro 2.8 software loaded on a machine which is
supposed to be connected to a MONITORING port of the switch.

Question :
How do i enable port monitoring on the cisco catalyst 6509
switch ?

On one port it is already enabled & it shows MONITOR as port
status as shown below but i want to know how it can be done on
another port.

Port Name Status Vlan Duplex Speed
Type
----- -------------------- ---------- ---------- ------ -----
------------
9/44 monitor 237 a-half a-10
10/100BaseTX

Thanks in advance
Regards
Arun

See:

You probably want something like:

set span 9/1 9/2

Which will copy all traffic from port 9/1 to 9/2.

Hi there!

do this command:

set span "source port" "destination port" create

The key command here is "create" because without it,the switch will
remove ur current span port and create the new one.
With the "create" command it maintain the existing span and create a new
one.

Cheers!
