"ppp timeout idle" & 10K
We moved from 7200 (12.3(12b)) to 10K (12.3(7)XI6) (both used as LNS) and we have come into a
serious "bug".

"ppp timeout idle" isn't working correctly when used under virtual-template. All sessions are
terminated using ppp idle timeout as the reason, regardless of their traffic. Like the idle timer is
never being reset.

Although that particular interface has interesing traffic passing through all the time, the timer
isn't reseting.

10000#sh caller time
Line User Limit Remaining Timer Type

Vi2 test@test.gr \
01:00:00 00:52:49 PPP idle
...
10000#sh caller time
Line User Limit Remaining Timer Type

Vi2 test@test.gr \
01:00:00 00:41:58 PPP idle
...
10000#sh caller time
Line User Limit Remaining Timer Type

Vi2 test@test.gr \
01:00:00 00:21:12 PPP idle

Also another (cosmetic) bug is that the output rate of virtual access interfaces is displaying
incorrect values.

Here are some examples when in/out traffic should be ~1000/1000 bits/sec.

Virtual-Access2 is up, line protocol is up
30 second input rate 1000 bits/sec, 1 packets/sec
30 second output rate 509032000 bits/sec, 1 packets/sec

Virtual-Access2 is up, line protocol is up
30 second input rate 0 bits/sec, 0 packets/sec
30 second output rate 2631000 bits/sec, 329021 packets/sec

Virtual-Access2 is up, line protocol is up
30 second input rate 0 bits/sec, 0 packets/sec
30 second output rate 1144204000 bits/sec, 143025765 packets/sec

Can anyone help me identify these bugs? When i searched on CCO i found some similar bugs but none of
them applied to our ios version.

It seems the same bug that I see in 12.3(15). Dennis has opened
CSCsb42294 for it.

Re: "ppp timeout idle" & 10K [ In reply to ]
But i have a 7200 with 12.3(15) where ppp idle timeout works fine.

Re: "ppp timeout idle" & 10K [ In reply to ]
I found that if i remove "ip idle-group 101 in" from virtual-template, then "ppp timeout idle" works
fine.

This is acl 101 and as it seems the problems comes from the fact that the matches aren't increasing,
when they should.

10000#sh access-lists 101
Extended IP access list 101 (PXF security)
10 deny igmp any any
20 deny pim any any
30 permit ip any any (40 matches)
