Multicast Traffic
Hi...

i have a problem that i have a backhand cluster running with 5 server which
are using milticast to talk to eachother.
http://www.chefkoch.de/backhand/

The Servers are connected to switches with at all 72 Prots.
The problem ist that the backhand multicast broardcasts are recordniced
on ervery of the other switch ports. Does someon know a way how to
get the traffic of the other switchports?
The switches are 2 cisco 2924 an one 3Com 3300.

Tanks for helping.

Regards

Alex

You would need a multicast-aware switch. The Cisco 2924 series aren't
that nice. I have no idea about the 3com switches. I think any Cisco
running CatOS will work fine.

My 6509 works fine and my Lucent P334T works like a charm. You need a
switch that does is "Multicast aware" and performs "IGMP snooping". So,
just read the technical specification on the switch.

Lucent P334T's are nice we have a few. I don't think we paid more than
$1000 for any one of them.
