fedora 20 - scrpms
I am having some trouble with my mythtv fedora 20 install, and someone
referred me to this thread:
http://www.gossamer-threads.com/lists/atrpms/users/17010#17010 suggesting I
try this new repo scrpms.

First a little background. I used atrpms to install all my pre-reqs to
build mythtv. I wanted .27, and atrpms only has .26 for fedora 20. So that
is why I built mythtv from source. Now, it seems that my issue stems from
something I didn't have setup properly before building mythtv, someone
suggested that I use this new scrpms because it has mythtv .27 for fedora
20.

Also, when i try to install nvidia graphics through atrpms, I get a
dependency error, so I ended up installing it through RPMFusion repos
instead, which it installed fine.(I disabled atrpms before install, and
then disabled rpmfusion after install and re enabled atrpms; I have never
had them both enabled at the same time) So first this after setting up this
new scrpms repo, I tried to use it to install the latest nvidia graphics,
and I'm getting the same type of error as with atrpms. here is what it is
saying:
Resolving Dependencies

You could try using --skip-broken to work around the problem
You could try running: rpm -Va --nofiles --nodigest

What am I doing wrong? this is the same type of error I was getting
through atrpms.

I don't "need" to install the latest nvidia, I just want to... Once I
figure this out I'll move on to fixing mythtv.

Hello again. I think you need to have ATrpms enabled too - and to remove
any rpmfusion/nvidia stuff, such as libs.

Re: fedora 20 - scrpms [ In reply to ]
Thanks John! I didn't realize you need them both active to work.. So that
did work. I uninstalled my original nvidia-everything, and successfully
installed the latest nvidia through the new repo.

So I figured with this working repo and the availability of mythtv .27 that
I would just install it through the repo so it would likely fix my audio
issue, however I'm running in to yet another yum snag. When it gets to
install mplayer as a dependency, mplayer requires a package called
libdirectfb-1.6 and that package is not available. When I search it in
yum, libdirectfb-1.7 is available and I have it installed, but I still get
the error that it can't satisfy that dependency.

Any ideas on this?

I think I'm going to try to re compile again now that I have more audio
libraries installed and try my luck.. I was hoping this repo would pull in
all my dependencies to make things easier...

Afraid not. I don't have F20 and can't immediately see the
dependencies. Is it trying to install this?

http://dl.atrpms.net/f20-x86_64/atrpms/stable/mplayer-1.2-93_snap20140413.fc20.x86_64.rpm

Maybe someone else on this list can help now?

yes, this is what is hanging up. Its trying to install libdirectfb1.6 as a
dependency, and I believe its an error because libdirectfb 1.7 is the
current version, and is installed. I downloaded 1.6 from the website and
I'm going to manually install it and see if that works..

Thanks for your help.

Nick,

I am only building what is not in atrpms repo hence you must have both.
Maybe I should put atrpms-repo as a dep in scrpms-repo. My aim has not
been to replace atrpms only to add to what is not being built. I hope
that makes it clear.

Thanks John for your reply as well.

The easiest way is rebuilding mplayer against the newer lib:

http://orion.lcg.ufrj.br/RPMS/myrpms-f20-x86_64/lcgrpms/mplayer-1.2-93_snap20140413.fc20.x86_64.rpm

I've set mplayer to rebuild for all platforms it will be version 94

cheers

Re: fedora 20 - scrpms [ In reply to ]
I remember reading somewhere that you don't want to have both atrpms and
rpmfusion enabled at the same time, so I just assumed.. It makes sense
that yours would both be enabled... Thanks for taking the time to build
the repo and to provide support.
