"Powered by Apache" logo for dark background?
In the Apache FAQ, question 10 ("May I use the Apache logo on my product or
Web site?", http://httpd.apache.org/docs/misc/FAQ.html#logo) states "You
may use the 'Powered by Apache' graphic on a Web site that is being served
by the Apache HTTP server software." However, the graphic was created for
pages with a white background. When displayed on a site with a dark
background such as http://fkeinternet.com, the "Powered by" text and the
feather's shaft effectively disappear. I created a modified GIF (which is
currently displayed on the aforementioned http://fkeinternet.com page)
where I replaced the black (text and feather shaft) with white, but it
really isn't as aesthetically pleasing as it should be: Because the image
was created for a white background, the blending at the edge of characters
is toward white, and looks odd with a dark background.

Is there already a "Powered by Apache" logo (created for pages with a dark
background) somewhere not referenced by the FAQ I should use? Failing
that, is there someone with access to the image sources who could create a
"Powered by Apache" logo for a dark background, or who could supply me with
source images and the correct font/color selections so I can create the
image myself? (In the latter case, I would certainly make the image freely
available to all who ask for it.)

Thanks in advance.

I placed the logo inside a table with a white background.

Netscape 4.79 gives an error message "plugin for the mime type
text/html could not be found",
but the site is visible. Did you declare that in your httpd.conf or in
some of your numerous modules?

It looks a browser problem - there's nothing wrong on the server. The
browser is saying it doesn't know how to display HTML pages and needs a
plug-in to do it. Try going back to Netscape 4.75. It works for me, all
day - and I'm not planning to "upgrade" to any of the newer ones any time
soon...

Um - it's not me that's having the problem - it's Irmund Thum, who's using
4.79. 4.75 works just fine, I stick to my position ("just say 'no' to '6
point oh'") ...

after installing Shockwave and the Netscape Default Plugin I'll get a
download page for the plugin finder at netscape; since there are no
problems with the site when visiting it with a netscape 4.77 who has
these plugins plus RealPlayer and nppdf.so I guess the missing
RealPlayer plugin caused the problem for NS4.79 at www.kompukit.com
Anyway - with the working plugin browser I can't see that Apache logo
for a dark background :-
