Wups,

trawling through my mail backlog I found this from a week or so
ago. Anyone know about Unixware? This was a follow up
to an innocent query made to www-admin@cm.cf.ac.uk a list that Rob H, Rob
Evans and myself sit in on.

Ay.

[.www-admin is a local list, not really a free for all discussion list
so don't get fooled and post anything there ;)]

On the vif question.

I have posted to newsgroup about making it work under suns...
no one has answered. :-(
(at least how to make it happen on Solaris)

This is for 2 reasons, that I can tell.

1) No one seems to have done a port from BSD to SVR4.
2) YOU DON'T NEED IT UNDER SOLARIS!

Yuppers, Solaris uses the BSDish features in it's networking.
So you can make it happen w/o the alias command.

However......

I do need to make the vif.[ch] to happen on a unixware box, and have
seen 1 post ever 2-3 weeks on the topic in the newsgroups.

The reason I e-mail you is on the apache is your box was listed
as one of the 'beta sites'. Thus far, apache seems to
work just fine for me. Fine on the Sun, just not quite so fine
under Unixware.

If you hear how to do the multihome trick on Unixware (a box you don't
own) think of me. :-)

WRT Vif...

As far as I know... all SVR4s have the alias flag for 'ifconfig'.
