The Web pages at w3.org (http://www.w3.org/hypertext/WWW/Servers.html)
don't have anything about Apache.

It does now.

How do you mean "broken"? Out of date, yes, but that is true of
most of the content on the W3C server. The whole thing is in the
midst of a major update and facelift (not by me), so it will get better.

404 errors when I try and follow the links to pages about the www-vrml
list, the www-servers list, etc. The menu of external lists is fine. I
should have elucidated, I hate vague bug reports myself, too :)

Does the update/facelift include an upgrade from CERN to Apache ? ;-)

We have talked about it several times -- it will depend on who (if anyone)
we get to take over the CERN server. We estimate it would take at least
a month to update the old code, and none of the W3C people have a month
to spare.

BTW, the problems Brian noticed were caused by one of the undergrads
doing a "rm -r *" in their ~/tmp directory, not realizing that one
of the subdirectories was actually an AFS mount to the server root.
After a minute of processing, he asked our sysadmin why it was taking
so long .....

*sigh* At least we had backups this time.
