There is one person working on Xen-related kernel work for the FreeBSD
OS, he got commit access lately and I await the commits ;) ... Maybe they
have already been made.

In general, You can hope that they provide install/runtime domainU/0
kernels, and try to either:

install it nativly, then make it a domU/0.

try (like me) to boot an install-domU kernel and the install-cd to
install it somewhere (be it a file or a real partition).

Sitenote: I did not succeed yet ;-)

However, stay tuned about the DragonFly/FreeBSD people, grep their cvs
commit logs or something like that.

The demo CD contains a root loopback file that you can use.

The loopback root and a sample config can still be found here:
http://www.fsmware.com/xenofreebsd/5.3/

No commits have been made yet, with luck domU support should be going
into HEAD soon.

Re: Free as virtual machine [ In reply to ]
As well, I've been wondering if anyone's got any of the *BSD installed on its
own slice and running under Xen?

You know, a partition in c partition with the kernel booting up under Xen?

Thanks

NetBSD domain 0. Some bugs, some of those stop me from actually running
any unprev. domains ;(

My previous work uses xen for FreeBSD development - so yes, FreeBSD
works just fine as a domU.

Nonetheless, I wouldn't do any mission critical deployment with
XenFreeBSD right now. I can't comment on NetBSD.
