admin can't log in; something's messed up
I am the site administrator for PESWiki.com.

I have noted from the past that the "thumb" feature does not work with
images, and have just worked around that.

Anyway, this evening a user evoked that feature and kept it in place on
their page.

I was "logged in" at the time I went to view the page.
http://peswiki.com/index.php/Directory:Bedini_SG:Replications:oneness

In particular:
http://peswiki.com/index.php?title=Directory:Bedini_SG:Replications:oneness&oldid=4281

Because of the thumb bug, there was script error messages at the beginning
of the page, superimposed on top of the page text.

I fixed the problem by going in and removing the "|thumb]]" command from the
images.

However, that bug did something to the settings, and now I can't log in to
the site.

When I try to log in to my site, peswiki.com, I get a message saying that
cookies are
not enabled and must be in order to use it.

Here are some other factors that enter into the history of this problem,
which may or may not be germane.

I am able to log in to wikipedia.com just fine.

I've rebooted a couple of times, I uninstalled java, which has been giving
me problems.

I gave PESWiki.com explicit permission in IE6.0 browser. I changed the
cookie settings to the lowest level of securing. Nada.

Just now I tried using Mozilla. Nada.

Perhaps the problem came when I was visiting a site that uses Java
(www.planetark.com). What usually happens is that when I get to the site,
as the Java script loads the browser closed down. americananatigravity.com
is another site that I've not been able to access.

I've found, though, that with planetark.com that I could hit the "stop"
button on my browser as the page is loading, to keep the Java code from
installing, and the browser will not close out on me.

Tonight I had some problems doing that.

Also, my ISP each Sunday evening does something at around 9:00 pm that
throws my internet connection into a tizzy, requiring me to reboot before I
can use it again.

So, those are the things that happened this evening between the time that
PESWiki worked and when it I could no longer log in. It was after rebooting
from the ISP thing (which has been ongoing for a couple of months if not
more).

Another thing I did to troubleshoot was uninstall Java. I can now access
the sites that had been closing out on me, but that did not resolve my wiki
log-in problem.

I just created an account and logged in with no problem. Check your
browsers, check your proxies.

My version of IE6 (6.0.2800.1106.xpsp2.030422-1633) closes w/o an
error whenever there is a java applet or if there are certain scripts.
I don't know why, I've just turned off applets in Maxthon. But
MediaWiki has never proved to be a problem in this regard.
