automatic Index and New entries
Greetings all,

I'm very new at this this so the answers may be obvious to some of you.
After searching for a day and a half I'm either missing it or not looking
in the right places.

I am not seeing a "create new entry" button on link when I do a search.
I have been able to create new entries by creating a link on the term from
within another entry but it seems like I'm missing the straightforward way
to do it.

Also, is there a way have a index of terms automatically generated?

Thanks
Kent

There's good reason why the link is missing.
If you don't go the way through a related article you may either create
an article which already exists under a slightly different name or
if you mistype the article name you'd have to move it and a sysop remove
the wrong one.

That standard and expected way to create new entries on a wiki is by
creating a link to the term from another entry.

A "create new entry" button encourages orphan pages, which is generally
considered a bad practice on a wiki; particularly since search queries
are often in a form that's not ideal for page titling (odd case, extra
words, etc).

However you can sneak in an edit link for negative results from a "go"
request by editing [[MediaWiki:Nogomatch]], like this:

Does [[Special:Allpages]] do what you want?

This is already done by MediaWiki. It indexes all 4 letter words and
larger. (I don't remember specifics other than that). Wikipedia
generally has this disabled because of DB resources.

If you find this unsatisfactory, I would recomend Google.
