I'm joining the party late, so sorry if this has already been asked. I
prefer to display my PC on my SGI O2, because my O2 has a much larger/nicer
monitor, and besides e-mail/news, I don't really use my PC. I compiled
vncviewer under Irix 6.3, and it works fine. The PC and the SGI are on the
same network hub, so the ping time between them is < 1ms. When I display my
PC on the SGI, the response is ok, but not very fast. The update rate is
kinda pokey. I've got the server set to refresh under the mouse only - not
the full screen. Mouse tracking is pretty slow. Given the amount of
information, and that this is a stateless system, I'm not too surprised,
but is there anything I can do to speed things up? Oh, I'm running Win95,
and I've tried resolutions from 640x480 to 1024x768 at 8bit and highcolor.
Speed doesn't seem to change much.
Lest I sound too critical, this is *very* cool.
