For people on the move, (which presumably includes most VNC users), I've
packaged the following in a single self-extracting executable:
- Windows VNC client (v 3.3.3 r7)
- ssh binary + dlls (v 1.2.14)
- PuTTY and pscp (v 0.50)
- A short readme.txt outlining how to port-forward to a VNC server
My reasoning is that Windows machines are pretty ubiquitous and ssh is a
well established standard for secure access. PuTTY and pscp are included to
allow secure (text based) terminal emulation and file transfer. The package
is relatively light at 342K, (by Windows standards anyway). It comes "ready
to go" -- it requires no installation and can be removed by deleting the
extracted files, (though very security conscious users may also want to
remove the VNC and PuTTY registry entries).
