Varnish - fetch path

i'm wondering where varnish is fetching all files ...in varnishstats i can
see that varnish is fetching, but in the default path (/tmp) i can see just
one file vcl.XXXXXX.....can somebody explaint it?

Varnish stores all objects in a single file.
