Softfail vs hardfail in referring records
My organization hosts multiple domains for which it provides email
service. All domains use pretty much the same outbound mail servers. My
plan is to create an SPF record for my paradigm domain and then refer to
it for all my other domains.

My question is as follows: If I use softfail with the SPF record for the
pardigm domain, and hardfail for records that refer to the paradigm
record, will the final result for the referring domains be softfail?
This is my expectation.

In other words, for the following:

Record for paradigmdomain.org v=spf1 ip4:199.199.199.7 ~all

All other records v=spf1
include:paradigmdomain.com -all

Will all other records reflect the softfail from paradigmdomain.com, of
will the hardfail from all other records be the final result.

My desired result is to be able to edit one record and have it work for
all referring domains.

Thanks for any assistance,

Joe

They will use the '-all' from the record itself, not the '~all' from
the included record. You may want to read
