SPF publishing question
Hello all,

I believe that I have correctly written and published the TXT file in
DNS as to the following but when I go and try to validate it is
incorrect? Any thoughts, this recorded was updated over 36 hours ago so
time is not the problem.

Computer in question is running Windows 2000 SP4 Primary Domain Server
Published SFP in TXT is "v=spf1 a mx ptr ip4:216.254.59.0/24
ip4:69.17.110.0/24 include:speakeasy.net -all"

Record return using infinite penguins is v=spf1 ip4:216.254.0.0/24
ip4:69.17.110.0/24 mx ptr -all
Record return using DNSStuff is v=spf1 ip4:216.254.0.0/24
ip4:69.17.110.0/24 mx ptr -all

Any help would be appreciated.

Thanks,

MB

Re: SPF publishing question [ In reply to ]
Hi,

syntactically it is correct:

http://spf.sonologic.nl/index.php?record=v%3Dspf1+a+mx+ptr+ip4%3A216.254.59.0%2F24+ip4%3A69.17.110.0%2F24+include%3Aspeakeasy.net+-all

What exactly do you mean by 'when I .. validate it is incorrect' ???

RE: SPF publishing question [ In reply to ]
Koen,

By validate it, I mean test it. I went to DNSStuff and infinite penguins
and entered my domain name frontiergeosciences.com to see if the record
was being read correctly. It seems as if it is not.

Any thoughts?

URL? I do not know these services. Your SPF records seems fine.

Error message?

Send an email to echo@generic-nic.net and read the reply. You will
find the Received-SPF record added by our mail server (it uses
Mail::SPF::Query) which is a better test than most Web forms found on
the Internet.

Trying to use ns1.speakeasy.net = 216.254.0.9 I get the same
result (after a rather long delay).

Trying to use ns2.speakeasy.net = 216.231.41.19 I still get
the same result (after another long delay).

The nameservers for your domain agree with your test results.
Something with your update didn't work (yet) (?). Bye, Frank
