[Bug 3548] New: .su missing from top level domains in RegistrarBoundaries.pm
http://bugzilla.spamassassin.org/show_bug.cgi?id=3548

Summary: .su missing from top level domains in
RegistrarBoundaries.pm
Product: Spamassassin
Version: SVN Trunk (Latest Devel Version)
Platform: Other
OS/Version: other
Status: NEW
Severity: normal
Priority: P5
Component: Libraries
AssignedTo: spamassassin-dev@incubator.apache.org
ReportedBy: roy@gnomon.org.uk

I confess to not knowing what RegistrarBoundaries.pm is used for, so I don't
know how what the implications of this are, but the top level domain .su (the
domain for the former Soviet Union, that is still delegated and still in
widespread use) is mising from the list of ccTLDs in that file.

You'll find it listed at http://www.iana.org/root-whois/ though not at
http://www.iana.org/cctld/cctld-whois.htm which is currently used as a reference
by SpamAssassin.

Officially, existing domains under .su are suppoesed to be transitioning towards
their new country codes, though there is some dispute over whether .su should
actually be removed, with .su having (controversially) been reopened for new
registrations. In any case, the domain is valid (delegated by IANA) and a quick
google search for any search terms you like with site:su will confirm that it is
in widespread use.

Incidentally the wikipedia article at
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Top-level_domain is a good reference on the subject
of anomalous ccTLDs.
