I don't really see this as a great idea.

Great, we have a list of free email domains. But are they spammers? Are they
more prone?

Just seems like a new loophole. A spammer can easily pretend to be @yahoo.com
(free), or @aol.com.

Perhaps I am mistaken, but what do we gain?

Well, we can't really tell until we try it. The theory is that e-mail
from free domains is more likely to be from spammers.
