This way ospfd starts normally:
# zebra -d
# ospfd -d


This way it writes into log file and hangs forever:
# zebra -d
# zebra -d
# ospfd -d

2007/09/14 18:47:31 OSPF: OSPFd 0.99.9 starting: vty@2604

The effect doesn't depend on the recent rib_sweep_route and old_pid patches, it
is reproducible on a 0.99.9 tarball.
