the original hypertext system, has finally been released
as open source:

http://www.udanax.com/

find out for yourself ;-)

oops spoke too soon
the url did not work for me so I went to xanadu.com which referred me
to the mirror. udanax.com isn't fully propagated yet.

Well, I get:

500 Server Error

The hard transfer limit for this user has been reached

Not sure what that has to do with either Python or Xanadu...

Nothing. It has to do with the Slashdot effect. The story about Xanadu
being open sourced hit Slashdot last night.

You should be able to reach http://udanax.xanadu.com if you're interested.
That 500 Server Error certainly is odd, though.

A better URL to go to first is http://www.scripting.com/, which has the
working mirror as well as links to the Python code on the web. And it's
some clean code, too -- if Xanadu is as cool as it sounds, this might be a
killer app for Python.

And best of all, it's a truly unencumbered license!

That typically means what the text says: there have been more downloads
(probably more bytes, not download actions) than the host allows for that
URL, so it's not going to allow any more until next month or until the
limit is increased.
