Does anyone have an idea on how compatible is Perl-win32 with Perl 5(unix
flavor) ?
I know that there is a number of technical issues like fork(), alarm() etc.
that is unsolved yet. However, even putting aside these issues, I have
difficulties in making those modules on CPAN run under Perl-win32.
A lot of the modules asked your to run the associate makefile.pl in order to
install. But Perl-win32 does not support makemaker at the moment. I also
encounter problems with the modules require autosplit.pm.
Then there are scripts that assume a unix environment (shell capability,
commands that is almost on all unix flavors but not win32 etc.).
I don't know how these problems are solved in other non-unix platform (OS/2,
MAC), but trying to run modules design for Perl5 is quite a frustrating
exercise in Perl-win32.
