Perl Steering Council, meeting #001, 2020-01-08
Yesterday (Friday 2021-01-08) Sawyer, Rik, and I had the first meeting of the Perl Steering Council (PSC), following email and slack discussions over the Christmas break.

We put together an initial to-do list, which we broke down into: (a) things needing immediate attention (such as "what's the process now for approving / merging PRs?"), (b) medium-term issues (such as Perl 7, Cor, and other syntax), and (c) more strategic issues (such as clarifying where/how P5P fits within, and communicates with, the broader community).

Our initial priority is to resolve things that are, or will soon be, holding people up. First up: (1) how PRs are decided on, and (2) ensuring that TPF grants continue. We picked the next 3 topics for our second meeting.

We're going to start off with more frequent calls, but hope they'll settle down to weekly pretty soon. We'll report back here (P5P) initially, and wait to see if something more visible / public would be helpful.

If you want to suggest topics for our list, you can reply to this, or email us at: steering-council@perl.org (which goes to the three of us directly).

I'm very interested in Perl's strategies, including marketing and messaging.

I am very interested in communicating with the outside world, including
business users, Unix/Linux developers, and CPAN authors.
