OpenStack Design Summit 2011 Inquiry

> I have begun planning for the next Design Summit in April 2011. The current thinking places the event in San Francisco, CA but nothing is set in stone at this point although 20% of the Design Summit attendees in San Antonio, TX were from Silicon Valley so it makes sense to host our next event there. The survey feedback also showed a very high acceptance rate of charging $100 to attend the event - 84% had no issue with this charge. I will provide free passes for college students to the event to encourage the academic community to attend.

> As an OpenStack partner, I wanted to get specific feedback on the following ideas for the next event:
>
> * Location - are you aware of a venue that would support 500 people outside of the standard hotel, convention center options? For example, corporate HQ or research facility in bay area; having a partner host the event at their site should considerably lower the total event cost
>
> * Sponsorships - I am looking at alternative ways to fund the event in addition to the small attendee fee of $100. I can have standard partner sponsorship packages where you get listed on the website, event materials, etc or create one off sponsorship items such as Night 1 Party, Lunch, Lounge. etc. I am open to all ideas on how we can engage the OpenStack partner community in a manner that allows the partners to promote themselves as well as support the community and the event.

> Thanks.
