Windows images into OpenStack
Hello guys, I have a need now to get a Windows VM into the OpenStack deployment. Can anyone suggest the best way to do this. I have done mostly Linux. I could use the ISO and build one within OpenStack not sure I want to go that route. I have some Windows that are coming from VMWare.

Thanks,
Remo

Here are the instructions if you choose to go the ISO route:

Cloudbase provides an evaluation image for Windows:

Watch out for the cores/sockets properties too. Desktop Windows can limit the available resources if every core is a different socket. See http://clouddocs.web.cern.ch/clouddocs/details/image_properties.html

Cloudbase offers the tool to build there Images on Github.

https://github.com/cloudbase/windows-openstack-imaging-tools

—snip—
The following versions of Windows images (both x86 / x64, if existent) to be generated are supported:

• Windows Server 2008 / 2008 R2
• Windows Server 2012 / 2012 R2
• Windows Server 2016
• Windows 7 / 8 / 8.1 / 10
—snap—

So you can build an image for Windows 2016.

HTH, Christian.
