Stupid question ?
Hi all,

I'm using NTOP on Windows NT, and I have a small question. Is it normal that
in Data Received or Data Send for the Protocol IP, I don't see much Mail
Traffic. I'm not sure that NTOP is analysing SMTP protocol. Have soemeone
see the same or had any clues about that ?

Thanks

Philippe,
under Mail ntop includes SMTP, POP and IMAP. If you feel that ntopis not
doid its job, please take ethereal and check whether ntop is able to capture
all Mail data. Do not forget that on Windows libpcap is not working too well
as many (all?) packets sent/originated by the host where ntop/ethereal is
activated are not captured.

Cheers, Luca

RE: Stupid question ? [ In reply to ]
I'm coming again with this small problem.

If I look at the IP Service/Port Usage from my server, I can see the port
25. But if I look at the Data Send, IP, the mail column is always with 0.

IP Service Port # Client Sess. Last Client Peer # Server Sess. Last Server
Peer
25 25 1/53.2 KB apus
53 53 42/3.1 KB arkina 42/3.1 KB arkina

I also checked with Ethereal, and I can the the SMTP traffic. I just want to
see the SMTP traffic, not POP or IMAP.

Thanks
