MIC3-3D-1X100GE-CXP ports won't light up.
Hi all--

New to this particular MIC. I've got two Juniper MX480s running RE-S-1800x4s with 15.1R7.9 on SCBE2s with MPC3E cards, and I'm trying to use MIC3-3D-1X100GE-CXP with CXP-100GBASE-SR10 transceiver.

First time, like I said. Got a 24 Fiber MTP Cable, Multimode OM3, 100Gb Female to Female 50/125, OFNP, Pin 1-13 cable.

The ports don't light up or go "up," but the MPCs, MICs, and transceivers are recognized. I'm clearly missing something. Can anyone take some pity on me, here? As always, much appreciated.

Simple - but did you turn on the laser?

Not sure if this is the problem... maybe it's the laser thing Jerry
mentioned, ... but maybe you need to online the mic ? I think I had to do
this with new mpc's I put in my mx960's but unsure if it's required at the
mic level for newly inserted mics...

Request chassis pic online or something like that

After bringing up the same config (Expect we use LR4 Optics) and same OS level for over 12 setups in the past 2 months we did run into one problem that looks similar to this. We would get a link light but the interface would remain down

First Make sure to check to see if you are seeing light on both ends using the show interfaces diagnostics optics command . If not then something is wrong with the cable or optic. We never had to activate anything outside the MPC card when it was inserted.

In our case we would see light on both ends but both sides the interface on both sides would remain down. We had to do a disable on just one side of the link and then reenable it and then the interfaces on both sides would come online. This happened in 10 of the 12 connections. And also we only ever had to do this once when everything was when the cable was first plugged in even if the cards had been plugged in for weeks.. We have since unplugged, pulled cards out, rebooted the entire chassis though a full power off and never had to do the disable trick again for that connection. I was up to this point blaming the infernia gear in the middle.

Hey everybody--

It's looking more likely that I have a cable issue, here, and just need to get that replaced. I've got two dozen LC cables around here. Fat lot of good that does me, now.

Appreciate everybody talking me down from the ledge. Have a great week.
