Rpd_os_memhigh
Hi Everyone,

rpd[606]: RPD_OS_MEMHIGH: using 211775 kB of memory, 103 percent of available

Getting this message on my router constantly. Obviously I have pushed things over the
edge. Can somebody make suggestions (on/off list) about how to check and see what
processes have devoured all the memory? My guess of course is the bgp sessions I have on
the router. Thanks in advance!

you should upgrade to 768m if at all possible.

it looks like you only have 256m or so.

you should also contact Juniper so they can look at it
to insure it's not a unknown memory leak as well.

My suggestion: upgrade or reboot (or just restart rpd) when
possible.

Also, for taking a look at memory consumption, the following are usually
helpful:

show task memory detail
show task memory history

or you could just drop to shell and run top...

This was the other question I had, whether the first gen. REs mem. can be upgraded. It
looks like it has two more slots so I could prob. use another 256MB (2x128).

That's right.

Working with Juniper now ....

Waiting to see what Juniper says since it is not service affecting right now ...
Seems like "vmstat" does not show the same information it normally would in a UNIX so I
couldn't exactly figure out what process was consuming bulk of memory.
