SNMP Uptime MLX/XMR
Hi,

When I want to grab the uptime of a MLX/XMR via SNMP
(RFC1213-SystemInfo.Uptime) I don't get the correct uptime that I get when I
do a show version

I suspect it's the uptime of the SNMPd agent, does anyone know how to get
the real uptime via SNMP?

Regards,

Rens

Hi

Via "sh ver" you see just uptime of management module, switch fabrics, line
cards. It some cases that time will not be equal to system uptime if module
were rebooted.

When your system has been up for almost 500 days, the 32-bit sysUpTime counter will wrap around.

I don't think Brocade has an SNMP counter with a larger length for the uptime (à la Cisco's snmpEngineTime OID). Please correct me if I'm wrong.

497 days, 2 hours, 27 minutes, as my monitoring system regularly reminds me
between 02:30 and 03:00 at night. Not that I'm bitter.

The RFC specifies that sysUptime is a 32 bit quantity, so every device has
the same properties.
