stacking with 2 switches.
hello,

I have 2x Summit X650 switch connected with standard stack VIM (2x10Gbit/s).

But..
Stack Port 1:
State : Operational
Blocked? : Yes
Control path active? : Yes
Stack Port 2:
State : Operational
Blocked? : No
Control path active? : Yes

It seems that only one cable can be used at a time, so there is maximum
of 10Gbit/s throughput between 2 switches no matter if there is only one
or both cables..
Is it true ?

Regards,
Marcin

Hi Marcin,

Did you enable the stacking on both X650?

Fabian.

Marcin,

Blocked Port is only for Unknow/Bcast traffic. Unicast/Mcast use both ports.

You can find some info in the Concept Guide :

On Stack Port 1 where Blocked Port = Yes indicates on the stacking backplane
in which a vlan is extended across both or more than one switch in a stack,
broadcast / unknown packets will be blocked on that port to prevent a loop
across the stacking backplane. Unicast / known traffic will be eligible to
use either port since packet forwarding would occur on only one of the
ports. Multicast traffic behaves in a similar pattern but the port to be
blocked will be based on the multicast group number in attempt to evenly
distribute blocked ports per multicast group across the switches in a stack.
For VLANs, the switch with the lowest MAC Address will block one of its
ports.

Fabian.
