You are not alone.

I have:
Backplane: ¦¤¦¤¦¤000-00-05 001¦¤H-03420

And have seen a few more ¢¯¢¯ in them its fine (as far as these switches go) and just cosmetic.

Cheers

Dan

Really? We saw this, and shortly afterwards the MSMs stopped
communicating with each other, and the backplane partitioned traffic
between the MSMs...

There is a component of the 6808 "passive" backplane which fails. I
would RMA the unit.

Re: 6808 backplane [ In reply to ]
Hi Joe,

This is interesting as I reported this to extreme TAC a few years ago and they said it was cosmetic. So have Extreme admitted to you that this is a broken component and RMA'd your backplane?

Cheers

Dan

No, they kept claiming the backplane couldn't fail until we proved it to
them beyond the shadow of a doubt. They replaced saying "very rare" but
we had it happen to another 6808 within a year.

Close examination of the backplane shows the use of capacitors, which
change chemically over time. The 6808 backplane simply has a limited
lifetime, ~4 years.

I have two 6808 backplanes (and chassis) that I am planning on sending to
the dump and you can have them for shipping costs if that would help.
