NESSUS vs. Enterysis Dragon
I have been asked why we should use NESSUS instead of Enterysys Dragon.
We are in the process of purchasing ProfessionalFeed.
Any thoughts?
Thanks,
John

Hi John,

Nessus is a vulnerability scanner that can perform network scans, credentialed
configuration patch and audits and also scan for a wide variety of useful
information.

Enterasys Dragon offers a set of network IDS/IPS products as well as host
based IDS/IPS products.

They are very different products. Having said that ...

Tenable does offer our enterprise customers a version of Nessus and the Passive
Vulnerability Scanner that are certified to run on the Dragon appliance image.
These images are used by Security Center and Log Correlation Engine customers
who want to aggregate Dragon IDS logs, along with netflow, firewall and other
types of logs with vulnerability & configuration info learned from Nessus and
the PVS. The PVS/Dragon combination is particularly effective at sniffing the
same collision domain watched by Dragon, so you always have a very good idea
of which systems are active on your network and with which vulnerabilities.
