Help me understand. Audio woes.
Ok, I've completely given up on Mandrake 9.1 (hack and slash is
over.) Redhat has been a BREEZE! So here I am, fully installed, fully
configured. Here are a few specifics before I ask my question:

Motherboard: ABIT KT7RAID 1.3 GZ Athlon T-BIRD
Memory: 1.5 GB
Sound Card: Sound Blaster Live! 5.1
Video: Geforce 4 MX 440
Capture Card: Hauppauge PVR250

Alsa sound is working correctly, every test seems to work without fail.
I can unmute the line-in and get sound- its selected as the record
source. I get video aswell, no problem.

How does MYTHTV decide which audio source to use? Should I be plugging
the audio source into the "line in" on the Hauppauge card? I am
completely stumped and can't seem to locate the answer in the mail list
archives/FAQ.

I recall that the MSP3400.o (or something like that) needs replacement
to fix audio issues. I don't see why I should need the MSP3400.o if my
soundcard is being used as the source.

To recap I can't seem to get MythTV to record audio, help me understand
why I can't get this beast going.

Ken,
The haupauge 250 doesnt use the soundcard at all for capture. You
dont have to set a source nothing, if you are not getting audio it is
probably because of the msp 3400 issue, 1) just remove the one installed
in your kernel module directory, just do a search for msp3400.o, 2) then
replace that one with the one in your ivtv source directory, 3) depmod
-a , 4) just reboot
hopefully that fixes the issue
