rankings question/problem
I finally got mythtv up and running, but I am having problems with the ranking
feature. I rank the shows I want to record in the program rankings screen. I
have Family Guy at +6, but when I enable recording of the Simpsons (at +0 or
even -5) it always preempts Family Guy in the same timeslot. Now in the
program rankings it shows me "Family Guy - <Episode title>" and "The Simpsons
- <Episode title>". Are the rankings applied to all episodes or only the
particular one?
The conflict resolution screen shows no conflict between the two shows, it
just lists Simpsons for the time slot.
Is mythtv secretly boosting the ranking of Simpsons or am I going mad?

What am I missing? Any advice is appreciated!

Replying to myself here... I realized that Family Guy does get recorded on
another channel (the exact same episode that gets ignored the day before in
favor of Simpsons). Can anyone confirm that MythTV has the smarts to detect
that it can record a particular episode at a timeslot that doesn't have a
conflict? That would be sooooo slick! I'm impressed...

I have a similar problem.

Stargate SG-1 and Monster Garage both come on at 8PM where I live.
Monster Garage comes on Monday at 8PM with a replay (same episode) at 8PM Friday
SG-1 Comes on Friday at 8PM and shows reruns (old episodes) at 8PM Monday

Scheduling either for timeslot recording results in a conflict as Myth detects
it in the timeslot both days and wants me to pick a prefered show. I looked
in the database and I believe there is no field for day of week, so "weekly"
recording is actually "daily" recording if the show is in that timeslot more
than once a week. Does this sound right? Or is there a way to schedule a
Friday-only timeslot recording, or Monday-only, etc? (without doing a record
once recording every week)

Re: rankings question/problem [ In reply to ]
Workaround:
1) Record Monster Garage All times slots on this channel
2) Give Preference to Stargate SG1
3) Get Monter Garage @ it's 12A~1AM time slot

Oh Yea, if you put Stargate SG1 in record everytime it come on, and not
just fri, you would conflice with Startgate SciFi Mon. (4hrs of
Stargate). but you already new that.

CVS issues should be reported on the -dev list. You would have seen that this
issue was already reported there, and it's being looked into.

Yeah sorry, I remember seeing something similar on dev regarding the
load but not in the same context (or as a result of the same
thing(s)). Will post cvs related stuff there from now on.
