Troubles getting sound from Terratec Cinergy 400 TV
Hi guys,

I hate to be so not original, but I'm also having major difficulties getting
sound from MythTV :(

After
$ amixer set Master,0 100%,100% unmute
$ amixer set Line,0 75%,75% mute captur
$ amixer set Capture,0 100%,100% mute captur
I can run xawtv, and through 'aplay /dev/dsp' I hear the delayed sound.

However, with mythtv I got picture, but no sound. Not even with speakers
directly on the tuner card.
xawtv works fine with speakers directly on the tuner card...

Config of capturecard in mythconverg database:
1 /dev/video /dev/dsp3 /dev/vbi V4L Television 0 falcon
(video and vbi are sym links to video0 and vbi0)

Relevant config in settings:
AudioOutputDevice /dev/dsp0 falcon
AggressiveSoundcardBuffer 0 falcon
MythControlsVolume 1 falcon
MixerDevice /dev/mixer falcon
MixerControl Master falcon
MasterMixerVolume 70 falcon
PCMMixerVolume 70 falcon

Soundcard is a SoundBlaster Live! 5.1 digital, which should be full duplex.

Any pointers would be much appreciated.

Thanks,
Arjan

Hi,

Make sure you have /dev/dsp3 as your input device for sound or change
the dsp_nr settings in your modules.conf.

Where did you read about that oss=1 option? (I wonder, if I missed some
docs, see a previous mail of mine in the howto thread.)

When my machine booted, the sound is silent at first, for the first
record. If I go into WatchTV after boot, I hear no sound (on another
machine as frontend). If I exit out and go into LiveTV again (or change
the channel?), usually sound works. Sometimes it doesn't, and a reboot
fixes it. Similarily, sometimes I hear loud noise. I occasionally had a
green noise picture as well. I don't knwo what the cause is. Again, a
reboot or usually fixed it.

Looking at your config, maybe you need to insert relevant

alias sound-slot-0...
alias sound-service-0-...
statements for your TV card? Just a guess.

I'll attach my relevant modules.conf and dmesg parts, in case it helps you.

Re: Troubles getting sound from Terratec Cinergy 400 TV [ In reply to ]
Hi,

I do have /dev/dsp3 set as the sound input of my capture card.
I also played a bit with setting the audioratelimit to 32000, but since that
I now 'enjoy' the backend crash experience which looks like a frontend
freeze. Even after resetting the value to 0 in the database it now always
crashes as soon as I start LiveTV. Before trying this, I got picture but no
sound.

This is the backend in gdb:
