tearing artifact in tv/recordings
Has anyone encountered a strange tearing artifact in
their tv playback and recordings? I have put up a
screenshot to show exactly what I mean.

these little tears in the image seem to only happen on
indindividual frames and usually not in the same place
on the image. I am pretty sure it doesn't have to do
with my mythtv config and hardware config because I
only started seeing this problem in the past week or
so.

The problem also shows up when I watch directly from
xawtv ... meaning that the problem might be with the
signal, but I am not sure.

Has anyone experienced problems with signal noise due
to interferance from items in or around their computer
before? I am really searching for the cause of the
problem, but am yet to come up with anything that
makes sense.

PCI bus latency problems, most likely. The tuner card isn't getting enough
time on the bus to transfer a complete frame. Dropping resolution might
help, and you can try increasing the latency timer or whatever it's called
either in the bios or through the latency option to the bttv module.
