Also have the remote for the Terratec Cinergy 400 TV, but it's pretty
useless for me, because the receiver is half built into the TV card,
which is in the server.
RE: Poll: What IR solution are you using with MythTV [ In reply to ]
I'm using the X10 MP3 Anywhere Remote with lirc and its works great!

My setup works great, and has great range.
Homebrew IR reciever from the lirc website
parts cost: $13
Old phillips vcr remote I had lying around. Another remote I tried
first I could not get to work reliably.

On Frontend.
Receive Only with Pinnacle

On Backend
Transmit Only
Actisys 200L
A lot of trial and error getting my starchoice working. Every key
transmits except for channel 6 for some strange reason. Still working on
perfecting it. I also had to use the latest CVS version to get my
Actisys to transmit to my receiver.

There is a project at
http://sourceforge.net/project/showfiles.php?group_id=24087&release_id=7
5498 that built a transmit trainer for the Actisys 200L for the Show
Shifter program under windows. This works well at training and
transmitting for an external tuner. Wish I had more free time to dissect
this and see if can be ported over.

Cheers...

Does anyone have experience with the RedRat2 IR transmitter ??

Re: Poll: What IR solution are you using with MythTV [ In reply to ]
Other than the fact it's very expensive it works great!
I had one from a previous project & it's great @ capturing signals
from any random remote & then mimicing the back. I've used it very
reliably to capture & playback signals from many different remotes -
including my Hughes DirecTV remote.

I'm using a Creative PC-DVD remote/IR Receiver...
I got the whole thing for $10 Canadian at this store that was practically a
computer flea-market.... It was a bargain (new, in box... OEM style...)

Re: Poll: What IR solution are you using with MythTV [ In reply to ]
Receive only.

Hardware: The pickup for my Avermedia TV'98 card along with a 15-1994
RS learning remote.

Software:
1. LIRC package to accept signals from the remote.
2. IR (Infrared Remote)--the program for the jp1 interface to program
the remote.

RE: Poll: What IR solution are you using with MythTV [ In reply to ]
I don't accept that. Why can a windows box learn and transmit my remote
fine?
There is something else, I am going take a look at this IR project and
see what makes it special. If windows can do it, Linux can do it better.

I have tried the commercial programs for windows, and they do not even
come close to what Myth offers.

Cheers..

Usage - Receive only
Hardware - ATI Remote - USB RF Remote that came with AIW 7500,
16' USB extension cable
Software - ati_remote kernel module , xmodmap

It's supposed to have good range,
but i have trouble with 10 feet through a wall.
(some keypresses are dropped)

Much more affected by interference from monitors than our Wireless keyboards.

I'm using an Ira-2 with a Tivo remote and lirc. This combination has
been great for me. Works well and was easy to setup. They also have an
oem version tat you could mount inside the case.

They've recently introduced a USB receive/transmit. I don't think there
is lirc support yet, but maybe some day. You can check it out at
http://www.home-electro.com/
