When moving MythTV but want to keep recorded programmes?
I am moving my mythtv backend, and I want to keep my recorded programmes
from my last backend. Can this be done? The programmes are on a network
drive.

cheers

I have tried (from
http://www.mythtv.org/pipermail/mythtv-users/2009-November/272633.html)

"Best approach, though, do a new install and give the host the /exact/
same name as before. Then shut down all frontends and backends and do a
full restore, then run mythtv-setup to upgrade the database."

But when I run mythtv-setup it says it cannot connect to the database

sigh

Problem of connecting to database is solved: The database password was
wrong and mysql was binding to localhost only.

This works but watch out for the mysql settings being wrong (check the
bind-address in /etc/mysql/my.cf) and the password to the database.

Just general advice too. I lost a half hour of my life because I
confused a '0' and a 'O'.
