Satellite with 0.19?
Gidday,

Has anyone been able to tune in to the TVNZ channels on Optus B1 using
MythTV 0.19?

I can tune them using dvbstream and mplayer but the channel scanner in
MythTV is refusing to see them. I've tried setting the LOF and initial
frequency in kHz as noted for 0.18.1. But the setup screens say to use
Hz, which I can't use because the field in the database is too small and
11.3GHz wraps round...

Any assistance would be much appreciated.

Cheers!

I have DVB-S working fine in 0.19. I can't remember if I retuned
anything since upgrading though or if it just worked from 0.18.1.

Here's what I have in the db, for NASA-TV:
channel has mplexid = 3, serviceid = 265, sourceid = 4,
cardinput has (for sourceid = 4) lnb_lof_switch = 1, lnb_lof_hi =
11300000, lnb_lof_lo = 11300000,
dtv_multiplex has (for mplexid = 3) transportid = 10, networkid = 47,
frequency = 12483000, inversion = a, symbolrate = 22500000, fec = 3/4,
polarity = v

Hope that helps,
Steve

I know this is slightly off topic, but since the announcement of TVNZ/Canwest moving towards DVB-S i've been thinking of getting a card.

What card are you using and where did you source it from?

Thanks,
Adam

I don't think it's offtopic at all :-)

It's a Technisat Skystar2 2.6D PCI card from dvbshop.net:
http://www.dvbshop.net/product_info.php/info/p12_Technisat-Skystar2-2-6D-incl--remotecontrol.html

I believe several groups from this list have ordered the same card
from the same place. Not sure if anyone else is currently interested,
but if you search the archives you might find someone to share the
shipping with or at least some more info.

We are going to be looking at carrying a couple of DVB-S cards given the
direction TVNZ and TVWorks are moving in. I'm open to recommendations on
what we should carry. I doubt we could beat the European price on large
orders, but for we might be able to find a good price for one offs.

Just hope that they don't turn off the DVB-T signal in Auckland anytime
soon as i've gotten quite used to using it.

I can heartily recommend the SkyStar2, definately the better card of the
selection.

However, there's always the possibility it'll end up being a "free to
view" system, encrypted but with an easily obtainable (probably one-off
cost) card to view, using an more common encryption system. In which
case, the SkyStar2 won't do what you want - it doesn't have a CAM slot.

(I have heard TVNZ are prohibited from encrypting their signal but I
wonder how much that will be enforced in the future, and wouldn't apply
to other current FTA broadcasters..)

Well, I tried tuning again using the settings you supplied and it still
failed to find anything. I hacked the database and added the values you
had to my already existing NASA TV channel I had, but MythTV is just
skipping over it.

I think I need to check out the 0.19.1-fixes (or whatever) branch from
subversion and try that out.

Thanks for your assistance!

Well, I found my problem. 0.19 (and 0.19.1-fixes) have a bug with the
scanning wizard if your first encoder card is not a configured DVB card.

The patch is at:

http://svn.mythtv.org/trac/ticket/1723

If anyone else has had this problem.

Cheers!

Good to know, thanks. I didn't rescan when I upgraded so I didn't hit this.
