What happens if you run:
% env LANG=C ./setup

If your current directory isn't in the path you'll run some other
sort of setup program.

% which setup

Will tell you what's being run.

Please take this up with the RH 8.0 maintainer; I had raised this
issue with him about the "./setup" notation and he said that what's
in the HOWTO right now is what worked for him.
