Hardware MPEG possible
Forgive me since I'm new to this list. Does MythTV support hardware MPEG cards now or planned for the future? It seems to me if some hardware MPEG cards could be supported that would substancially lower the rest of the hardware reqirements for the rest of a MythTV system. I know that hardware MPEG cards are going to be substancially more expensive than standard software based capture cards but I would assume capture quality would be better with less CPU needed.

Thanks;

I believe that the main issue is that so far none of the MPEG2
hardware cards have linux drivers available. There are some initial
efforts, but nothing concrete as far as I know.

You may wish to check the video4linux mailing list, since that would
be the first place something like this would be widely known.
