Setup, Illegel instruction
Hi all,

There seems to be a problem when I run Setup or the filldatabase
programs. When I run them I get an error saying the following:

[adeponte@ace setup]$ ./setup
Illegal instruction
[adeponte@ace setup]$

I am guessing that it is problem with Mysql which I am highly familiar with
but it is probably something wrong with the Qt interface to mysql which I am
not familiar with. Would some one please help me. I installed the Qt 3.1.0
packages including the one for mysql. Maybe I need to do something else. I
have no root password set in mysql currently which I dont see why it would
be a problem but maybe it is. PLEASE HELP!
Thansk,
Andrew

That doesn't seem like a response from the application
... more like a response from your system. Sounds
like the setup program did something your system
didn't like for some reason, but thats my guess.

the root password for mysql shouldn't be a problem ...
as long as mysql works and u can connect and use it.

with qt I know I had to recompile that after mysql to
get some of the qt-mysql features necessary for
mythtv. However those problems should have presented
themselves in a more obvious way. So I don't think
thats your problem either.

maybe someone else has seen this b4.

Do you have an AMD K6 CPU?

No I do not have an AMD K6 processor I have a VIA C3 processor. Did
the setup program and the others come precompiled or something, and it is
having issues because of that?

Something like that. Edit settings.pro and change the optimization bits on
the QMAKE_CXXFLAGS_RELEASE= line to something more appropriate to your
processor.

OK, for a C3 processor, go to your settings.pro and change the
- -march=pentiumpro to -march=i586 and then execute:

% make clean
% make

and then a
# make install

That should do it.

Re: Setup, Illegel instruction [ In reply to ]
the -march=i586 fixed it, thanks
