Illegal instruction

I just compiled and installed mythtv and get Illegal instruction when I
run it. I ran it through gdb and it appears to be coming from the
ReadConfig function.

Hardware
AMD K6/2 500
Geforce 3
SB Live! Value
AverMedia Tv Tuner

OS
RedHat 8.0

Not at all sure, but have you tried turning off the interlacing?

You need to edit settings.pro and recompile for something suitable for your
processor -- specifically, the -march=pentiumpro line.
