I am requesting the latest stable version of Apache::Status. I can
not find it anywhere on CPAN.

It's in mod_perl distribtion, grab the latest snapshot from
http://perl.apache.org/from-cvs/modperl

IIRC, it is part of mod_perl itself; it is not a seperate package.
what is not working for you that you seek a "stable" version of it?
