As far as I remember, the piranha shipped in Red Hat 6.1 doesn't support
the DIRECT ROUTING mode.

Please upgrade to Red Hat 6.2, which supports it.

Actually, upgrade to 6.2.2 and the latest piranha on
ftp://people.redhat.com/kbarrett/HA/
