Updating a Document - Trying to understand why it cannot be done.
Hi,

I have been using Lucene for a while now and work around the issue of
updating the fields in a document by deleting and then adding.

I was wondering if someone could tell me from an architectural point of
view why this is required and what advantages does it have. Also, how
much work / benefit would there be to change it?

Just to increase my understanding.

I looked in the mail-archive but didn't find anything. If there is
something just point the way.
