I just looked at project/appex in the Sandbox.
Assuming Andy was really saying "No, appex project is not going
anywhere.", I would suggest that Clemens & Co. look at
jakarta-lucene-sandbox/projects/appex/src/java/search (*DataSource*,
*Broker*, DocumentHandler.java, contenthandler/*, etc.), as that seems
like the place where the actual code is, and there are some classes, at
least judging by their names, that fit that proposal in luceneplan.html
document.

Personally, I find all those directories confusing. Most of them are
either empty, with an empty placeholder file, or they are for
Centipede, a build tool.
That's why I suggest that Clemens looks at those sources, borrow what
he needs to borrow, and then we can slowly retire this project.
Again, this assumes that Kelvin and Andy agree that Clemens' web
crawler contribution has gotten further and satisfies their needs, and
they see no need for a separate appex project.
