Audio microcontroller stopped with PVR 150
Hi,

we have two PVR 150 cards under Ubuntu lucid with recommended upgrades,
which work fine to encode video, but after a day or so to encode audio,
they set the audio controller to stopped and nothing works anymore. We
switched to the second card, and a day later we had the same problem
there. A reboot did not fix the issue. We upgraded the cx25840 fw to
the one from tvtvdriver.org, which is newer than the Ubuntu
linux-firmware repository, but this did not solve the problem with
either a manual driver reload or a reboot.

Any ideas?

The audio microcontroller is only used for broadcast RF audio decoding. IIRC, your log shows you are set to an external input.

From what source are you trying to recrod?

I am sorry for the misunderstanding then! We are trying to record from
a direct external audio line (line 1 of the PVR 150). The audio is
actually generated by a different PC-based platform, we have no access
to, which generates composite video and cinch audio. The audio input is
fine on a test TV. We need the encoded a/v MPEG2.

On initial tests everything worked fine, we even captured for a week in
a row and it was ok. But when we installed this for real use, it seemed
to stop capturing audio after a day or so. We then switched to another
PVR 150 card in the same PC, which initially also worked fine. A day
later it was also mute.

We tried the "recommended firmware" from the WIKI (2.0.43), and the one
from the ivtv downloads (must be a beta from 2008-07-01), but it did nto
change anything we could see... We also cold-booted the PC, which had
no effect.

Right now, we are pretty lost here, as we don't understand, what is
going on.
