0.3.8 / PVR-350 : tuner 1-0061: tuner type not set
I'm running FC3 (kernel 2.6.12-1.1372_FC3) on an AMD Athon 3000.

I've just upgraded to 0.3.8 (and also installed a bttv card at the same
time).

My PVR-350 works apart from the tuner - nothing but snow. The message
at the end of the initialisation

Oct 10 08:50:19 singer kernel: tuner 1-0061: tuner type not set

looks suspicious to me. Can anyone shed any light as to what is going on?

I should add that setting tuner=1 on the modprobe of ivtv makes no
difference, neither does unloading all modules down to tveeprom and just
loading ivtv (no bttv) is equally unhelpful.

Richard,

4.0 just got released yesterday and is the new stable release. You
might want to give it a try.
Make sure you've got no duplicate modules (tuner.ko, tveeprom.ko
etc..) which might interfere. IVTV (for now) has it's own version of
these modules. The kernel-version might not support the tuner of your
card.
Do a modinfo tuner and check the path; if it's
/lib/modules/<kernel-version>/ivtv/tuner.ko, then you're using the
correct module. If it points to
/lib/modules/<kernel-version>/drivers/media/video/tuner.ko then you
are using the kernel-version which might be unsupported.
Also have a look at your firmware; Hans recommends 2 versions. You can
find them on the wiki at ivtvdriver.org.

Thanks. I'm in the process of upgrading to 4.0. However before I did
that I checked the tuner module as you suggested, and sure enough that
fixed it. Thank you very much. Incidentally, the upgrade script
identified a number of module conflicts with the kernel set and I
thought I removed them all. Either I missed it or tuner.ko was not
there....but a quick check of the make file suggests I just missed it.

Thanks again.

Richard
