Removing card
Hey,

I recently set up ivtv and mythtv with a hauppauge pvr250. mythbackend
silently crashes typically when it is about to start recording.

Yesterday it crashed, I notices the following log messages at the same
time of the crash. Could this be responsible for the crash? Is this
common? Thanks for any feedback...

It's a very old version. I recommend updating to ivtv-0.3.8 or wait until
Sunday or Monday when the new stable version 0.4.0 will be released (if all
goes well). You should also check if you have the latest firmware versions.
See www.ivtvdriver.org for more details.

You can also do a quick test: 'cat /dev/video0 >test.mpg'. If that works then
it could be a problem with MythTV.

I have since upgraded, version and details below.

cat /dev/video0 > out.mpg does work. However, I now I get about 4

I have upgraded, version info below. Now the following appears about 4
entries/sec in syslog, can I safely ignore this?

ivtv warning: ENC Stream 0 OVERFLOW #3635: Stealing a Buffer, 512
currently allocated

Also, can ignore :

ivtv warning: Encoder Firmware can be buggy, use version 0x02040011!!!!

cat /dev/video0 > out.mpg works.

Also is there a way to define the permisions that /dev/video* will be
created?

Thanks!

Appears to be resolved with upgrading to 4.0.

Could you upgrade to 0.4.0? This is now the stable release.

When updating the driver also make sure you update to the latest
firmware. (Could be that you already have it, but I can't relate your
revision to any value on the Wiki page.) See
http://www.ivtvdriver.org/index.php/Firmware .
