It is a MS Outlook or Outlook express thing. I find it irritating
when people send messages with this program and all attachments are
stuck in this dat file. I think I heard something about changing the
settings from RTF to Text fix that in the composing problems. As to
the signatures, my wife uses it, but doesn't ever check them. She
likes the way it puts the ribbons on the messages. :) I feel if you
want to use outlook, you either have to go to the
application/x-pkcs7-mime or use pgp clearsign and encryption. I don't
think it can properly handle the pgp mime messages from your
description. I haven't tried it myself though.
