GPG and mail
I have been reading through the GPG manual and it explains the
primary use of the GPG for signing files/documents. How can I use
GPG to sign email or encrypt email?

Thank you in advance.

Simply:

cat messagefile | gpg -sear user@domain.com | sendmail -v user@domain.com

This will take the message in messagefile encrypt, sign and uuencode and
send it to user@domin.com using his/her key.

Still a rather inconvenient method, particularly for users that wish to
use GnuPG for a large volume of mail. Interfaces for Netscape, Eudora,
and (dare I say it) Outlook would be useful. Hopefully someone will
undertake such a project. Mozilla might be a good place to start....

I agree, Since the person asking the question did not say what mail
client I was trying to put it at the lowest level possible so he/she
could build from there.

Agreed... My e-mail client of choice is mutt. It supports gpg/pgp "out
of the box". I perfer it to the GUI types but that is a matter of
opinion :-)

Wow, massively inconvenient. Sure, it'll work, but so will flying from New
York to Washington via Tokio. Why not simply use pine with pgp4pine or
mutt?

The person asked how and failed to give any kind of
indication of their mail client or platform. As far as I can see the
commandline above will work on any UNIXish platform.. I Would not use it
for normal use... I use mutt and am quite happy with it...

Sorry about the confusion I introduced...
